Powell River U18 Kings suffer first defeat

Campbell River Tyees post shutout win at recreation complex

For the first time in the 2024/2025 hockey season, Powell River U18 Kings have tasted defeat.

Playing on home ice at Powell River Recreation Complex last weekend, Powell River outshot Campbell River Tyees by nearly 20 shots but were thwarted by strong goaltending on each attempt.

The game's only goal came during a Campbell River power play at the 5:55 mark of the third period.

U18 Kings regular season record of nine wins, one loss and one tie places the team second in Vancouver Island Amateur Hockey Association standings, two points behind first place Victoria Admirals, who have played one more game than Powell River. Campbell River is fourth behind Tri-Port and ahead of Peninsula, Kerry Park and Cowichan Valley.

In addition to regular season games, Powell River won all its games at a tournament in Coquitlam last November.
