The local squad was outscored 7-1 by the Generals with Schreiber notching the only marker for the home team.
Game two goes March 2 in Parksville. A third, if necessary, takes place the next day, also in the Vancouver Island community.
The winner of the series will represent Vancouver Island Amateur Hockey Association at the provincials in Nelson next month.
