Powell River Minor Baseball Association’s U11 travel squad concluded its season with a split against Sunshine Coast on July 30.
Blake Peters and Pearson Coburn each earned player of the game honours. Sportsmanship was “at an all-time high,” said one volunteer.
The U13 team also wrapped up the season, one week earlier, with its final games against Nanaimo. Progressive improvement and the team working together led to an exciting win in one of the games.
“It was cool to play out of town and see other facilities; it makes kids wish for some batting cages here.”
Players, coaches and volunteers are grateful for all the spectators and sponsors, including Shaun Gloslee Excavating, Milne Medical, WINMAR and Jimmy Jack Charters, which ensured a fun season for all involved.
Regular season play for local teams also came to an end last month, with champions crowned at all levels.
