Kings announced the signing of 2005-born Ben Ramsey on Saturday, January 28.
The six-foot, two-inch right-shot defender from Lake Country, BC, will join the BCHL club for the 2023/2024 season. He attended Kings’ camps in 2022 and the club has kept an eye on him ever since.
“Ben attended our spring camp last May and also came to our summer development camp, and was very impressive,” stated Kings’ general manager Chad van Diemen. “He spent a week with us earlier this season and we were able to get him into a game in Salmon Arm. We have gotten to know him very well through the process and we feel he will be a great addition to our team moving forward."
The 17-year-old is currently a member of the Thompson Blazers U18 AAA team of the BCEHL. In 26 games this season, Ramsey has scored twice and added 18 assists.
“He has good size, moves well and has a high hockey IQ.” added van Diemen. “With Dylan Hewlett graduating and Casey Aman going to school next fall, we have a need for a right shot D-man and Ben ticks a lot of boxes for us. We are excited to have Ben and his family join our organization.”
