HUGE HONOUR: Returning defender Casey Aman has been named the new captain of the Powell River Kings.

Powell River Kings have chosen a captain for the 2022/2023 BC Hockey League (BCHL) season. Casey Aman will be wearing the “C” on his jersey.

“It’s an honour to be named captain,” stated Aman. “It’s a very exciting opportunity and I look forward to helping lead this team to a lot of success this season.”

The selection of a captain was unanimous for coach Brock Sawyer and his staff.

“He’s a young man who is very mature for his age; he goes about his business the right way around the rink everyday,” stated Sawyer. “He always competes and puts in the extra effort, you never have to ask him twice to contribute to our group, and he holds himself and everyone else accountable. He is the right fit for that role in our locker room.”

It was an eventful week for Aman, who committed to Penn State University at the start of training camp and scored two minutes into his first game as captain in a 5-2 preseason victory in Chilliwack last weekend.

Aman and the team found out after practice on Friday, September 9, when they were shown a video of his billet sister wearing his jersey and revealing the “C” on it.

Aman joined the Kings last season and appeared in all 54 games. He scored seven goals and added 20 assists to lead all Kings’ defenders in scoring.
