Alex Sandhu’s first goal of the BC Hockey League (BCHL) season early in the second period stood up as the winner in Powell River Kings’ 4-1 home win over Surrey Eagles at Hap Parker Arena on Friday, December 9.

Cameron Symons opened the scoring for the home team in the first period. Zachary Wagnon replied for the visitors to even the score at one goal apiece after 20 minutes.

Casey Aman and Jack Blanchett provided insurance markers for the Kings in the third period with goals just over a minute apart to seal the win.

Will Jones, Noah Eyre, Sam Schoenfeld, Adam Mendelson, Maxim Potvin, Karter McNarland and Ryder Ringor recorded assists for Powell River. Goaltender Kyle Metson turned aside 24 of the 25 shots he faced to earn the win. His counterpart Eli Pulver made 32 saves.

Attendance was 595.

The same two teams meet for a rematch on Saturday, December 10, also at Hap Parker Arena. Game time is 7 pm.
