Powell River Kings have added another forward to the mix by signing 2006-born forward Lucas LeBlanc.
"We are very pleased to welcome Lucas to Powell River," stated Kings’ assistant general manager Stephan Seeger Jr. "LeBlanc is a young speedy forward and we are looking forward to seeing his speed and relentlessness on both the forecheck and backcheck. He has a sneaky release and likes to drive the net when given the opportunity."
The 17-year-old from Ottawa is another young addition to the Kings, who are currently the youngest team in the BC Hockey League (BCHL) with an average age of 18.
Despite his young age, LeBlanc comes to the Kings with 78 games of junior hockey experience. Last season as a 16 year old, he played in the junior B Eastern Ontario Junior Hockey League, where he racked up 44 points in 42 games. He also suited up in six games for his hometown Ottawa Jr. Senators of the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL) before becoming a full-time member of that team this year.
In 30 games for the Jr. Sens, he scored 12 times and added four assists to rank top five in rookie scoring.
"I'm super excited for the opportunity," stated LeBlanc. "I'm really excited to get going with a new group of guys and see what opportunities may come from this."
LeBlanc will make his Kings’ debut this weekend when Alberni Valley visits for games on Friday, January 12, and Saturday, January 13. Puck drop is 7 pm both nights.
Yesterday, Kings acquired another forward in a trade with Trail Smoke Eaters.
