Powell River Kings' captain Anthony Lucarelli scored three goals on Saturday, December 9, to lead his team to a road win over Cowichan Valley Capitals.

In his second game since signing with Powell River Kings, Simone Dadiè set up two goals, including Anthony Lucarelli’s game winner, on Saturday, December 9, in Duncan versus Cowichan Valley Capitals.

Lucarelli notched a hat-trick for the Kings, who trailed 2-0 after 20 minutes but outscored the Capitals 3-1 in the second period to tie the score prior to intermission. Alex Sandhu and Anthony Yu also scored for Powell River in the 5-4 win.

The two points earned in the victory moved the Kings into an eighth place tie with the Capitals in BC Hockey League (BCHL) Coastal Conference standings. Both teams have 13 points, but Cowichan has played 24 four games, one fewer than the Kings. Lucarelli was named the game’s first star. Attendance was 1,263.

Yu’s assist was his 29th point of the season, which puts him in eighth place among league leaders, one behind teammate Noah Eyre, who has 30. Alberni Valley’s Nicholas Beneteau leads the league with 34 points.

Dadiè, who scored in his debut the night before in Nanaimo, was the second signing for the Kings last week after the addition of Rémi Gélinas on December 7. Gélinas assisted on one goal in his first game, which was also against Nanaimo.

Powell River’s road trip continues this weekend with stops in Surrey (December 15) and Langley (December 16).
