Powell River Kings announced the signing of 2006-born forward Théodore Jetté on August 16. The product of Blainville Quebec will join the BC Hockey League (BCHL) club for the upcoming 2023/2024 season.
Jetté played for the Saint-Eustache Vikings (Quebec) last year. In 42 regular season games he scored 12 goals and added 16 assists.
“Théodore played on one of the best U18 teams in the country last season” stated Kings’ general manager Chad van Diemen. “He’s got good size and skates well, and he goes to the dirty areas in the offensive zone to produce points.”
Jetté helped lead his team to an overall record of 43-8-0 in 2022/2023. The team finished the regular season as the number-one-ranked U18 AAA team in the country.
Following a successful season, Jetté says he is looking forward to coming to Powell River and facing new challenges in the BCHL.
“I’m really excited to join the Kings organization and the community of Powell River,” stated Jetté. “Having this opportunity to play in the BCHL represents a lot for me. I have no doubt that playing in Powell River will push my development and help me reach the next level.”
The 17-year-old will be relied upon for his offensive abilities, but also for his defensive play, according to van Diemen, who believes Jetté can be a strong two-way forward for the team.
“I like the way he plays away from the puck,” stated van Diemen. “He has good habits, so he can be trusted at both ends of the rink. We look forward to working with him and helping him get to the next level over the next few seasons.”
