Powell River Kings have acquired 2004-born defender Vit Beran via trade with Chilliwack Chiefs in exchange for future considerations.
Beran is from Litomerice, Czechia. Last season for HC Litvinov in the Czech Extraliga, he scored twice and assisted on eight goals in 51 games. Beran has also represented his country on the international stage numerous times.
“We are extremely excited to add Vit to the Kings' roster,” stated assistant general manager Stephan Seeger Jr. “Vit is a defender that is hard to play against. His size, strength and work ethic are all key attributes we watch for when adding to our D core. We look forward to seeing how Vit will contribute to our club on and off the ice in Powell River.”
The six-foot, two-inch tall 19-year-old has been limited to just 10 games this BC Hockey League (BCHL) season due to injury, collecting two assists. His last game action was October 22. However, he isn’t far from returning to the ice and could make his Kings’ debut as early as this weekend when Cranbrook Bucks visit Hap Parker Arena on Friday, December 1, followed by Cowichan Valley Capitals on Saturday, December 2. Both games start at 7 pm.
Beran is the second player acquired from the Chiefs through trade in November, joining Zach Rizzo, who made his Kings’ debut on November 17.
