Members of Powell River Aquatic Club, who compete as Powell River Porpoises, participated in the 2021 Gator Games Regional Meet in Nanaimo from August 6 to 8. It was the first and only meet attended by Powell River swimmers this year.
Top three finishers traditionally attend provincials, which are cancelled this year.
Of the 87 members in the club, 31 competed in Nanaimo.
Some of the novice swimmers have only been swimming with the club since July 1, when relaxed COVID-19 protocols allowed the club to boost its numbers from 75 to 87. Novice swimmers included Hayes Waterton, Luca Jantz, Fraser Blacklaws, Finn Mikkelsen, Ayva Massullo, Hazel-Mae Hueston and Georgia Mussellum.
