Nanaimo Clippers continued their early BC Hockey League (BCHL) season dominance over Powell River Kings with a 3-2 win on Saturday, October 16.
Nanaimo opened the scoring at 5:11 of the first period and doubled that total with two second period goals, including the eventual game winner on a power play at 5:29 and an even-strength insurance marker at 10:44.
Hunter Andrew setup Karter McNarland’s shorthanded goal five minutes into the third period to cut the lead to 3-1, then Andrew closed the deficit to 3-2 after converting on a power play three minutes later with assists going to Dylan Hewlett and Mark D’Agostino.
Kenny Gerow made 28 saves for the Kings in defeat, while Cooper Black stopped 28 of 30 shots for his fourth win in four games against the Kings to start the season.
Attendance at Frank Crane Arena in Nanaimo was 1,188.
Next action for the Kings takes place at the BCHL Showcase in Chilliwack on October 21. Wenatchee Wild will provide the opposition. Game time is 10 am.
