Nanaimo Clippers break second period tie, score four unanswered goals to defeat Powell River Kings

Nanaimo Clippers completed a season sweep of Powell River Kings with a 7-3 win at Hap Parker Arena on Saturday, February 12.

The visiting Clippers jumped out to an early lead with two goals in the first five minutes of the BC Hockey League (BCHL) game. Kings’ forward Mark D’Agostino replied 1:15 before intermission, with an assist going to Anthony Lucarelli.

D’Agostino combined with Dylan Finlay to set up Parker Lalonde’s team leading 15th goal of the season on a power play 45 seconds into period two, tying the score 2-2. The teams then exchanged even-strength goals; Karter McNarland’s seventh of the year for the Kings at 6:50 followed the Clippers’ third goal at 4:46.

Nanaimo took the lead for good with the eventual game-winning goal at 7:37, then added a trio of goals in the final frame to solidify the win, and sweep the season series 10-0.

Powell River outshot the visitors 35-34. Caleb Parkhouse and Nic Porchetta assisted on McNarland’s second-period goal. Attendance was 657. 

Kings travel to Port Alberni for their next game on Wednesday, February 16. Game time is 7 pm. The next home games take place on February 18 and 19 against Langley Rivermen.
