Powell River Kings' forward Karter McNarland has been chosen as one of the initial nine skaters who will represent the Coastal Conference and participate in the BC Hockey League (BCHL) 3-on-3 outdoor All-Star Tournament on January 21, 2023, in Penticton.

"It's pretty cool, obviously, but there are lots of guys on the team that could be an all-star," stated McNarland. "It's too bad only one of us is going."

Nine Interior Conference players were also selected after a poll was conducted with all 18 BCHL head coaches. One skater from each team was voted onto the rosters as part of the league’s 60th anniversary celebration.

An additional six skaters and all four goalie spots will be determined by a fan vote, starting Monday, November 21.

The tournament will follow a round-robin format with four teams of six skaters and one goalie (two teams per conference), with the top two teams meeting in a championship game. The All-Stars will also participate in a skills competition with events including hardest shot, accuracy and more.

Last year McNarland was selected to play in the Top Prospects game but it was cancelled due to COVID-19. He said he is happy to have another chance to head to Penticton.

"I guess it's just meant to be; they want me in Penticton," added McNarland. "I'm super happy to go; it's gonna be a fun event, but I couldn't have done it without my teammates and coaches."

The process for the fan vote to fill out the remaining roster spots, as well as the list of players eligible for the vote, will be unveiled by the BCHL at 10 am on Monday, November 21.

McNarland currently leads the Kings in points with 15 (four goals, 11 assists) in 18 games.
