Locals excel at Powell River Open Pickleball Tournament

Pickleballers host open tournament; out-of-town players attend event at multiple venues

Pickleball players from the lower Sunshine Coast and Comox Valley recently travelled to join local players and compete in the Powell River Open Invitational Pickleball Tournament.

Local players fared well with the following results:

Pete Grassman and Kerry Davies were the winners in the men’s 3.75 doubles category while Mariusz Wernerowski and Peter Lee captured third place honours.

Roberta Horn and Marilee Jones combined to win the ladies 3.5/3.75 title, ahead of Colleen Reedel and Ramona Rauch, who finished in second place. 

Men’s 3.0 doubles winners were Mitch and Brian Kenyon, while Jose Mora and Ron Hill teamed up to finish second.

The event took place at Oceanview Education Centre and Powell River Tennis Centre on August 21.
