Cowichan earns split of weekend series with Powell River Kings

Capitals hold onto final playoff spot with four games remaining in BCHL season

Jaxon Fuder scored the lone goal for Powell River Kings in a 4-1 loss to Cowichan Valley Capitals at Hap Parker Arena on Saturday, March 16. Anthony Lucarelli and Luke deVries combined to set up the shorthanded goal late in the first period, cutting the visitors' lead in half.

Cowichan added an insurance marker in the second period and scored into an empty net when Powell River goaltender Justin Katz was on the bench in favour of an extra attacker in the last minute of the game.

With the win, Cowichan moved four points ahead of Powell River for the final playoff spot in the BC Hockey League (BCHL) Coastal Conference. Both teams have four games remaining, including a third straight matchup on Friday, March 22, this time in Duncan.

Kings defeated the Capitals 3-2 on Friday, March 15.
