Powell River Kings managed to get to Chilliwack Coliseum on Wednesday, November 24, as did 1,568 fans, but it was a forgettable night for the visitors.
The host Chiefs exploded for 11 goals, four against starting goaltender Thomas Wardle and another seven after Nick Peters took over in relief midway through the game.
Chilliwack scored twice in the first period, once on a power play and once while shorthanded, and added four more goals in the second period, including two more during Powell River power plays.
Dylan Finlay and Nolan Krogfoss combined to set up the Kings’ only goal in the 11-1 loss, the fifth of the BC Hockey League season for Hunter Andrew, prior to the second intermission.
Chiefs also dominated the shot clock by a margin of 44-22, including 22-7 in the third period, which featured five more goals for the home team, three at even strength and the final two, 16 seconds apart, on power plays.
Kings travel to Vancouver Island to face Nanaimo Clippers on Friday, November 26, and host Nanaimo at Hap Parker Arena on Saturday, November 27. Game time is 7 pm, and tickets from the postponed Trail game (November 21) will be accepted for entry.
