CIRCA 1998: Powell River Regals assistant captain John Vanderkemp held the Doug McKenzie Trophy, awarded to the team after defeating Alberta's top senior AAA team in the BC/Alberta final.

Before a hometown crowd, Powell River Regals recorded a 4-0 shutout victory in game four of the BC/Alberta senior AAA championship over Stony Plain Eagles at Hap Parker Arena.

The win clinched the best-of-five series three games to one for the Regals, who were presented the Doug McKenzie Trophy for their efforts, seen above held by assistant captain John Vanderkemp.

Powell River won game one 6-4, took game two by a score of 4-1, and lost game three 6-3. Goaltender Chad Vizzutti was name MVP of the series.

Regals advanced to the Allan Cup final four tournament in Truro, Nova Scotia, but were unable to repeat as Canadian champions, finishing with a record of one win and two losses in the round-robin stage.
