With great love, the family of Sylvia Stoddart announces her peaceful passing on August 28, 2023, at age 97.
Sylvia was born on October 27, 1925, in Essex, England. She moved to Powell River after marrying her husband Ira in 1956. They lived their lives on “The Rock” in the house that Ira built.
Sylvia was a physiotherapist and was very passionate about her work. After retirement she supported many volunteer organizations, including Powell River Therapeutic Riding, Therapeutic Dog Program (training Rome and then Tika), and the MS and arthritis societies.
Sylvia loved the International Choral Kathaumixw festival and hosted many choir members as billets over the years.
Sylvia is survived by her three children Winifred (Russ), Caroline and Irving (Sandra); seven grandchildren Ken (Cali), Kevin (Kirstin), Randi (Ike), Margaret (John), Lyell (Mieke), Samantha (Zak) and Blair (Tori); nine great-grandchildren Brianna, Makaela, Samara, Hera, Atlas, Yevtsye, Talvi, Jaxon and Kennedy; and two sisters, Mary and Brenda, in England. She also had many family and friends in Powell River, Vancouver and England.
Thank you to everyone at Willingdon Creek Village who cared for Mom over the last nine years with dignity and grace.
“Love you Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, Gigi.”
