Parnell passed away suddenly from an aortic aneurysm. Left us too early, still full of life. He was predeceased by his parents Arnold Hopp and Alma Hopp (née DieterLi), older brother Leslie and sister-in-law Elaine.
Parnell is mourned by wife Poppy, stepchildren Lynn Knittel (Mike Logan) and Lyle Knittel (Shylene), grandchildren Christopher Marshman, Stephanie and Jordon Logan, brother Don Hopp (Shirley), niece Alanna, cousin Harold Hopp (Heather) and their children, along with many others.
Born in Red Deer, Alberta, he was the youngest of three brothers. He lived there until his early teens when the family moved to Burnaby, where his father set up a machine shop and Parnell learned his trade.
He was always up for an adventure, guiding tours, running Thompson Rapids, scuba diving, rockhounding and fossil hunting. He was a longtime member of the Abbotsford Vintage Car Club and in 1997 he met his wife of 25 years, Poppy, and moved to Powell River in 1999 where he joined the Powell River chapter of the Vintage Car Club before moving to Texada only five years ago.
We wish to thank our neighbour Rebecca for being there (Texada) while Poppy was in Powell River, and the firefighters and paramedics for caring for him in his last hours.
