With great sadness the family of Joyce Ann Gaudet announces her passing on December 5, 2023, in Powell River.
Joyce passed away peacefully at the age of 97 surrounded by family. She was born on February 13, 1926, in Vancouver, to parents Pearl and Harry Hearnden.
Joyce moved to Powell River in 1946 after meeting her beloved husband Bernard (Ben) Gaudet on their way home after serving in World War II. They were married on November 23, 1946.
Joyce and Ben had a life filled with adventures up and down the coast from their home on the beach at Myrtle Point. Joyce was an avid golfer and a member of Myrtle Point Golf Club for many years. She loved getting together with family and friends and their home was always open and inviting to anyone who stopped by.
Joyce is survived by her sons Reginald and Chris (Susan), daughter Sharon (Wayne), brother Harry (Cathy), grandchildren Brith (Becky), Andrew (Pauline) and Lindsay (Ben), great-grandchildren Lucas, Ivan and Sally, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son David and husband Bernard.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm on December 16 at Church of the Assumption, followed by a gathering of friends and family in St. Joseph’s Hall.
