Beatrice was born in December of 1944, the youngest of three daughters to Walter and Harriet Hopkins, and passed away April 4 after several years of declining health. She was predeceased by older sisters, Shirley and Nonie.
Bea was a Powell River girl for her entire life. "God's country" is what she called it and she never moved away. Powell River students and coworkers will remember her from her 27 years working for the school district as secretary and then office supervisor at JP Dallos, Oceanview and Brooks schools.
Bea was always known for being a classy dresser and was also known for always having her hair and nails perfectly done. Family was what was most important to her though, and when she wasn't preparing a feast for a family gathering you could find her tending to her garden, reading or watching true crime dramas on TV. She was always very direct with people but also enjoyed a good laugh and time spent with friends over a cup of coffee.
Left to mourn are her husband and loving caregiver Clive Kent; her son Cameron Innes (wife Crystal) and grandson Brayden; as well as her brother-in-law Cecil Fisk; many nieces and nephews; and extended family members.
She will also be missed by her stepson Dee (wife Donna) and their daughters Brianna and Olivia. A lot of her friends had gone on before her but the ones remaining will cherish their memories of time spent with her.
No public service by request but a small family get together will take place in the summer.
