At approximately 10:49 am on Saturday, November 12, Powell River RCMP responded to a report of a hit and run involving a parked vehicle in the Save-On-Foods parking lot.
Police attended and witnesses provided a detailed description of the suspect vehicle and driver. Video was also obtained from the scene.
Police located the vehicle driving on Cranberry Street and spoke to the driver of the vehicle, a 40-year-old male, who showed signs of impairment by drugs. A standardized field sobriety test was completed and based on the results of the exam, the driver was issued a 24-hour driving prohibition and a violation ticket for failing to remain at the scene of an accident.
The driver refused a drug recognition exam and was issued an additional 90-day administrative driving prohibition for refusal.
