ADVANCE POLLS: Advanced voting for the 45th federal general election will take place on Friday, April 18; Saturday, April 19; Sunday, April 20; and Monday, April 21, at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 164, located at 6811 Alexander Street.

Elections Canada has sent voter information cards to residents across Canada, including the qathet region. The card provides information about when and where electors can vote in the 45th federal general election, including polling station numbers.

Advance voting will take place on Friday, April 18; Saturday, April 19; Sunday, April 20; and Monday, April 21, at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 164, located at 6811 Alexander Street, poll number 658, according to Elections Canada. Advance polls are open each day from 9 am to 9 pm.

Elections Canada notes that unlike in some provincial and municipal elections, in federal elections, electors may only vote at their assigned polling station.

Electors can find the address of their assigned polling station on the back of their voter information card, or by visiting elections.ca and entering their postal code, or by calling 1.800.463.6868.

On election day, Monday, April 28, voting takes place at Powell River Recreation Complex, located at 5001 Joyce Avenue, from 7 am to 7 pm.

Seeking to represent North Island-Powell River as MP are Aaron Gunn (Conservative Party of Canada); Jennifer Lash (Liberal Party of Canada); Tanille Johnston, NDP; Paul Macknight (People’s Party of Canada); Jessica Wegg (Green Party of Canada) and Glen Staples (Independent). Powell River Chamber of Commerce will host an all-candidates meeting from 6 to 8 pm at Evergreen Theatre in Powell River Recreation Complex on Thursday, April 17.
