Folks choosing to dress up in witch and warlock garb, typically close to Halloween on October 31, and getting out onto their stand-up paddle boards, usually for charity, is gaining traction across North America.
qathet resident Stacia Hobbs organized the third-annual Witches Paddle at Kinsmen Beach on Powell Lake, Saturday, October 12. Although it was Thanksgiving weekend there was still a good turnout, according to Hobbs.
Hobbs said 22 paddleboards hit the lake, with lots of moms with children on the boards. Each year the group picks a new organization to donate to, and this year a toy drive for Ronald McDonald House BC and Yukon was chosen.
"We collect new toys and my family will deliver them to Ronald McDonald House for Christmas," Hobbs told the Peak. "We collected around 15 toys this year."
