The Weatherhood forecast for Tuesday, August 6, predicts temperatures to rise to 24 degrees Celsius by 3 pm.

Wednesday, August 7, through to  Saturday, August 10, temperatures in the qathet region will be between 27 and 30 degrees in the daytime. Nighttime temperatures will hover around a balmy 16 to 17 degrees. Sunday, August 11, the daytime temperature is expected to drop to 23 degrees and there is a 12 per cent chance of precipitation.

Today, the air quality and ultraviolet exposure levels are low and the wind is blowing at 5.4 kilometres an hour. Although the Kootenay region of BC, Cariboo, Okanagan and north eastern BC are experiencing wildfires, with 26 being declared in the past 24 hours, BC's south coast has been relatively clear of wildfires so far this summer, according to BC Wildfire Service.

The BC Wildfire Dashboard indicates that: “Conditions across the province will continue to be hot and dry as we head into the core of the summer season. Extended periods of hot weather dry out our fine forest fuels, making them highly susceptible to ignition.

"The likelihood of thunderstorms is highest in the southeast, with a risk stretching across southern BC. Some of these storms may come with precipitation, which will be localized and amounts will vary greatly. Thunderstorms also come with gusty winds, which can affect the behaviour of fires already burning on the landscape."
