Sunshine Coast SPCA is sharing the story of Mike Wazowski, a 10-week-old kitten who was attacked by a dog and surrendered as his owner could not afford the veterinary costs to treat the injuries. So, the SPCA covered the kitten's vet costs.

The veterinarian believes the cat was most likely grabbed and shaken by a dog, which caused the kitten's eye to come out of the socket. "The damage was so severe it was not repairable,” said Marika Donnelly, manager of the BC SPCA’s Sunshine Coast community animal centre, in a press release. “The eye had to be surgically removed.”

The only other physical damage the kitten sustained was some facial swelling and bruising.

Donnelly describes the kitten as "friendly and social, just like any other kitten," despite his ordeal. "He has the loudest purr and loves to spend time with the staff and volunteers at the centre."

Mike Wazowski (a reference to a one-eyed character in the Pixar film Monsters Inc.) will be up for adoption in about three weeks, said the release.
