A 60-year-old Powell River man accused of sexually assaulting a woman with disabilities while she was under his care made his first appearance in court on Wednesday, May 18.
The accused attended proceedings in the initial appearance room to arrange counsel for charges of one count of sexual exploitation of a person with a disability and one count of sexual assault.
The charges stem from an incident in late October 2010 when a female client was assaulted by a care worker working in a home in Powell River. After a lengthy police investigation RCMP arrested the man and regional crown counsel approved charges against him.
The man is due back in court on Wednesday, June 1. A publication ban prevents the publishing of his name.
