Crews have been hard at work repairing a damaged bridge and boardwalk at Inland Lake Regional Park this past month, and may be nearing completion.
Powell Lake Outdoor Learning Centre director Hugh Prichard told the Peak in a message that he has supported some aspects of the project, but the work is being conducted by Todd Nichols of Thimbleberry Contracting.
"Work to replace the bridge and nearby boardwalk over the toad crossing is currently in progress," stated Prichard in a social media post today. "If all goes well the bridge could be done in the next five days or so."
Prichard warned that people using the Inland Lake trail should use the detour route because the bridge is not yet passable.
"The trail heading right from the parking lot is closed," added Prichard.
The pedestrian bridge at Inland Lake was damaged during flooding in 2023, but it has been almost unusable for much longer than that. Provincial and federal governments have been to blame for the repair delays.
A few months ago, a contract was awarded and crews began work on December 2, 2024.
