City of Powell River's code of conduct bylaw has received its first three readings. Chief administrative officer Lisa Bhopalsingh said the bylaw is something council identified during its strategic priorities exercise.

Councillor George Doubt said council spent a lot of time working on the code of conduct. He said there have been some consultants and lawyers involved and a lot of discussions by council.

“The most important thing about a code of conduct is councillors read the code of conduct and try to comply with it,” said Doubt. “It’s a good document and it will be effective if people read it and follow it.”
