Sunshine Coast RCMP is reaching out to see if the public has any new information in a three decades old missing persons case.
It was mid-December 1991 when Richard (Rick) Dale Beaudoin, then 38, left Vancouver in a 14-foot red/orange fibreglass freight canoe with wooden seats and square stem.
He was on his way to Powell River. He made it as far as Pender Harbour, calling his relatives from a payphone from Pender on Dec. 29.
When he went missing, Beaudoin was 6'1 to 6'3" in stature with blue eyes and reddish-brown curly hair and a slim build. He also had a damaged left eye tooth. Today, he would be 68.
"Missing person posters were put up in Sechelt, Pender, Egmont and Powell River in 1992 and 1993 with a possible sighting in Egmont," said the RCMP news release. "Rick was known to be evangelical about the Christian religion, often preaching to people he met in his travels."
Anyone with new information is asked to call Sunshine Coast RCMP at 604-885-2266 or email [email protected].
