Official appointment
Powell River Regional District’s board of directors has confirmed that Mac Fraser is officially the chief administrative officer, without conditions. Colin Palmer, board chair, announced at the August 25 board meeting that Fraser has successfully completed his probationary period.
Tidy yards
City of Powell River council has passed the initial readings of a property maintenance bylaw. The regulation imposes prohibitions regarding graffiti, rubbish and unsightliness on private and public property.
The bylaw also imposes a specific maximum height for grass. It states lawn grass must not exceed 30 centimetres (12 inches) from April 30 to September 30.

In a standalone photo of a gas leak on Joyce Avenue in last week’s Peak it should have been mentioned that the gas line was improperly mapped.
