qathet Regional District directors voted at the March 6 board meeting to advertise the invitation to tender for operation of the Shelter Point Regional Park concession.
The advertisement will not set a minimum rent and there will be acceptance of the most-suited proposal, regardless of price.
According to a staff report, the risk with this option is that the rent received will not cover the cost to advertise or the direct and indirect costs to the regional district to operate and maintain the concession.
There is also the risk of receiving no bids, as was the case in 2023.
