qRD has no objection to aquaculture amendment at Okeover Inlet

qathet Regional District will advise the provincial ministry of forests that it has no objection to the aquaculture use amendment for Taylor Shellfish Canada ULC at Okeover Inlet in Electoral Area A.

According to a staff report, the application is for an amendment to an existing licence of occupation, located south of Hillingdon Point in Okeover Inlet. The amendment application is for the replacement of infrastructure for the existing 12.3-hectare shellfish aquaculture tenure.

The application is to change the previously authorized raft culture infrastructure to longline infrastructure, and proposes the use of longlines equipped with surface bags, covering a total of 8.03 hectares, the report stated.
