Effective March 27, qathet Regional District (qRD) is closing all regional park playground equipment and tennis courts to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
According to a media release from the qRD, all regional parks will remain open at this time, though users must be prepared for limited available services.
The public must follow appropriate protocols outlined by the provincial health officer when recreating in regional parks and in public spaces, the release stated. Families are encouraged to enjoy the parks and trails throughout the region, while avoiding groups and maintaining a safe social distance. The public is advised to maintain appropriate physical distance from staff operating in regional parks.
The qRD continues to monitor the COVID-19 outbreak in British Columbia. Actions taken by the qRD are based on advice from provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry. As always, the qRD prioritizes the health and safety of the public and its staff, the release stated.
