Approves hut
At its meeting on Thursday, April 25, qathet Regional District voted to advise the Recreation Sites and Trails branch of BC Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Operations and Rural Development that the regional board supports the issuance of an authorization under the Forest and Range Practises Act for Bliss portage hut recreation site located on Crown land in Malaspina Inlet, Electoral Area A. This hut on the Sunshine Coast Trail will be about eight kilometres from Sarah Point.

Website replacement
qathet Regional District will be getting a new website. The regional board directed staff to engage Array Web + Creative to design and build a new website for the regional district for the quoted price of $24,750 as submitted in the company’s website replacement proposal, and that additional funds not to exceed $7,500 be allocated to cover any additional costs directly associated with the website replacement project.

Transfers funds
The regional board voted to approve a budget amendment to transfer $12,680 of the Community Works Fund, originally allocated toward the Lund sewer Emil Road sewer extension project, toward the larger Lund sewer upgrade project.

Boat ramp
Regional district staff has been directed to investigate the Savary Island Marine Advisory Committee taking on responsibility for Indian Point boat ramp.

Recognizes mental health
The regional board recognized Mental Health Week from May 6 to 12, 2019; and approved benefit premiums to be increased by approximately $5,000 per year for regional district employees to include access to either a registered psychologist or registered counsellor to a maximum of $1,200 per person per year.

Signing agreement
The board has authorized the chair and corporate officer to sign the funding agreement between qathet Regional District and Union of British Columbia Municipalities for the resource-recovery centre project in order to receive strategic priorities funding.
