Declines opportunity
At the October 23 qathet Regional District (qRD) board meeting, directors respectfully declined the opportunity to participate as a member of the Foundry qathet Anchor Table. The board will invite representatives from Foundry to provide annual updates on the activities of the table, and share any needs and initiatives as they may arise.

The board defeated a motion, later in the meeting, that the board direct staff to draft a policy which will contain criteria for outside agencies such as Foundry to understand under the conditions in which board members will accept outside appointments to better serve the public as a whole through time, energy and resource investment.

Foundry is a BC-wide network of youth centres that removes barriers and provides young people ages 12 to 24 and their families access to free and confidential, online and in-person, integrated mental health and wellness support services.

Director appointed
Electoral Area B director Mark Gisborne will serve with the community-based services consultation on the local services to children with a disability committee as requested by Powell River Educational Services Society.

Wants installation
At the October 23 qRD committee of the whole meeting, directors recommended that the board direct staff to apply to BC Hydro for installation of fast electric vehicle chargers on Texada Island.
