Henderson Elementary School has been cleared of COVID-19 exposure.
Principal Jasmin Marshman said through further investigation and conversation with Vancouver Coastal Health and the public health officer, it has been confirmed there is no COVID-19 exposure. Marshman said there was an error at the lab and that a false positive initially raised the alarm.
Marshman said she was welcoming all students and staff back to the school. As of November 13, school was open and classes were proceeding.
“There’s very small numbers today and we are looking forward to everyone coming back on Monday,” said Marshman.” We’re very relieved that it was a false positive. Everything has been resolved and it has been totally confirmed. We’re back to business as usual on Monday.”
In an update to families distributed on November 13, Marshman stated that she was very sorry for all of the confusion this has caused.
“I assure you, all of the staff here sympathize with what you have been experiencing, as we have gone through the same,” stated Marshman. “The range of emotions and concern has been extreme. We look forward to welcoming your child back on Monday.”
