Final budget

At the Powell River Regional Hospital District committee of the whole meeting on March 10, directors recommended that the hospital board approve the 2022 final budget. According to the budget, the cost per average residence in the regional hospital district is $62.60, with the average residential value based on the 2021 BC Assessment revised roll. For Tla’amin Nation, the cost per average residence in 2022 will be $26.49, based on the 2021 BC Assessment revised roll.

Upgrade expenditure

The hospital district committee of the whole is recommending that the hospital district fund a further $118,356 toward facilities upgrades and renovations at hospital district properties, including Powell River General Hospital and Evergreen Extended Care.

According to a staff report, the board had approved a 40 per cent cost share toward facilities upgrades and renovations, and the purchase of major clinical equipment, with a projected overall cost of $6,659,000. The report states there seems to have been a miscommunication and the request should have been for a 40 per cent cost share of $6,954,890.
