qathet Regional District (qRD), Tla’amin Nation and City of Powell River are all celebrating Local Government Awareness Week from May 16 to 22.
“Local Government Awareness Week is a great initiative to highlight our community,” stated Tla’amin Nation hegus John Hackett in a media release. “By highlighting our services and supports, we can better inform our residents on how to promote positive change.”
Local Government Awareness Week is a provincial initiative to educate the public and generate awareness about roles and responsibilities of local governments throughout the province.
“On behalf of the City of Powell River, I am thrilled to be participating in Local Government Awareness Week,” stated mayor Dave Formosa. “I am incredibly proud of our community and all we have accomplished by working together and I am excited to see our regional partnerships growing.”
As part of the week, qRD is launching a regional resident satisfaction survey. The survey will run through the summer and the results will support this year’s strategic planning sessions. The survey can be found here at form.simplesurvey.com/f/s.aspx?s=ba30e258-aabb-4887-8ac1-d12485cf98f8.
“Local Government Awareness Week is a great opportunity to teach the importance of local government to the next generation of community leaders,” stated qathet Regional District chair Patrick Brabazon. “We are happy to be taking part in the week and we only hope to see it grow in the future.”
There will also be special feature content on the three local government websites: powellriver.ca, tlaaminationnation.com and qathet.ca.
