City of Powell River mayor Ron Woznow and councillor Rob Southcott have been appointed to the regional emergency executive committee.
At the March 16 city council meeting, councillors unanimously carried a motion for the appointments.
According to the terms of reference, the emergency executive committee considers matters relating to the regional emergency program, and activities and governance matters pertaining to local authority emergency management.
The committee is a standing committee of qathet Regional District and stipulates that the mayor and one elected official are to be selected by City of Powell River. Councillor Southcott is the portfolio holder for protective services in the city.
