October 25; Joyce Avenue
At approximately 5:23 pm, a police vehicle was parked on Joyce Avenue at Nootka Street when a vehicle was observed being driven with inactive insurance. Police stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Marine Avenue and Richmond Street and spoke to the driver, a 52-year-old female from Powell River. A record check was completed on the driver, and it was determined that she was prohibited from driving. The driver was arrested for driving while prohibited and the vehicle was impounded. She was released on scene and will be appearing in court at a later date.
October 20; Marine Avenue
At approximately 12:16 am, Powell River RCMP were conducting patrols in the area of Marine Avenue and Courtenay Street when a person was observed operating a motorcycle without a helmet. Police stopped the motorcycle near the intersection of Joyce Avenue and Courtenay Street. While speaking to the rider of the motorcycle, police detected an odour of liquor. The rider, a 40-year-old male from Powell River, provided a breath sample, which registered a fail on the approved screening device. He was issued a 90-day driving prohibition and his motorcycle was impounded for 30 days under the provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act.
