Powell River RCMP reported the following for September 29 to October 5, 2022.

September 29; Alberni Street
At approximately 4:11 pm, police responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Alberni Street at Michigan Avenue. A vehicle driving down Alberni came around a corner, when the driver’s visibility was obstructed due to the sun, and the vehicle then struck another vehicle that was about to make a left turn. Both vehicles were towed from the scene, and the drivers did not sustain any serious injuries from the collision.
October 2; Highway 101, south
At approximately 9:40 am, police observed a vehicle failing to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Lang Bay Road and Highway 101. Police stopped the vehicle and spoke to the driver, a 41-year-old male from Powell River. While speaking to the driver, police noticed a strong smell of liquor coming from him. A breath sample was obtained which registered a fail on the approved screening device. A second sample was obtained which also registered a fail. The driver was issued a 90-day driving prohibition under the provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
October 4; Joyce Avenue, 4800 block
RCMP responded to a report of a bicycle stolen from McDonald’s. The owner advised that he had just been in the restaurant to get food and when he came out his bike was missing. Police reviewed surveillance footage and observed a male in a dark hoodie and camouflage pants walk up to the bike, get on it and ride away. The bike is described as an orange Norco with brown handlebars and is valued at approximately $1,000.
