Powell River RCMP reported the following for June 16 to 22, 2021.

June 17; Wharf Street, 6800 block
At approximately 9:08 am, RCMP received a report that the Powell River Chamber of Commerce building located on Wharf Street was vandalized with graffiti overnight (June 16 to 17). The map of Powell River was spray-painted with comments in relation to Israel Powell and residential schools. The chamber is attempting to remove the paint.
June 18; Larry Gouthro Park
At approximately 2:19 pm, police received a report from the City of Powell River that washrooms at Larry Gouthro Park had been vandalized sometime overnight (June 17 to 18). Three toilets were smashed and soap and toilet paper dispensers were ripped off the walls. Damage is estimated at $1,000.
June 19; Manson Avenue, 5700 block
At approximately 3:33 pm, police received a report of an assault that occurred the night of June 18 at the Cranberry Motor Inn. A male was struck in the head repeatedly by a 39-year-old male. The male victim was taken to Powell River General Hospital for assessment. The suspect was arrested for assault and released to appear in Powell River Provincial Court. The accused and victim are known to each other.
June 20; Ontario Avenue
At approximately 12:32 am, police received a report that a male had been stabbed. Upon arrival, police located a male with non-life-threatening stab wounds. After investigation, police located a second male who also had stab wounds and a facial injury. The two males were transported to Powell River General Hospital and treated for their injuries. The males are known to each other and the incident is still under investigation.
June 20; Mowat Avenue, 5900 block
At approximately 9:52 pm, RCMP received a report that a youth had fallen down the cliffs near Mowat Bay. Police attended and located three youths who were stuck on a rock at the bottom of a cliff that was only accessible by a narrow, steep trail. No one was injured but alcohol was involved and the youth were not able to navigate the steep rock trail. In consultation with BC Ambulance and the fire department, it was decided that the safest way to rescue the youth was by RCMP boat. All youth were rescued without further incident and checked out by paramedics.
June 20; Duck Lake Road
At approximately 5:18 pm, RCMP received a request to assist Malaspina Volunteer Fire Department with a single-vehicle accident on Duck Lake Road. The driver, a 23-year-old female, was the lone occupant of the vehicle. While speaking to the driver, police detected an odour of liquor and signs of impairment. The driver was transported to Powell River General Hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The vehicle was seized for further investigation. The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the Forensic Identification Section and Collision and Reconstruction Services.
