Powell River RCMP reported the following for February 18 to 24, 2021.

February 18; Marine Avenue, 4500 block
At approximately 6:49 pm, police responded to a report of a break and enter at a business. The owner of the business reported a female was locked inside the store and hiding in the merchandise. Police entered and located the 23-year-old female, who had hidden in the business until after it closed, and then took merchandise and money from the till, but was unable to leave the business as the doors could not be unlocked from the inside. The female was arrested for break and enter and theft, and will be appearing in court at a later date.

February 19; Willingdon Avenue
At approximately 11:18 am, police were conducting patrols when a vehicle was stopped as it turned into a business.  Records checks were completed on the driver, a 34-year-old female, and it was determined she had a warrant for failing to comply with a probation order, and did not have a driver’s licence. The driver was arrested, issued a violation ticket for driving with no licence, and released with a court date in March. 

February 23; Westminster Street, 7000 block
At approximately 10:26 pm, RCMP responded to a report of a male in distress in a vehicle. Police attended and located the vehicle running in a parking lot. A male and female were inside the vehicle talking. Police recognized the male in the driver’s seat as a prohibited driver, and while speaking to the driver and passenger, police observed a controlled substance in plain view inside the vehicle. The male and female were arrested for possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. While searching the vehicle a significant quantity of drugs and cash were located inside. The male and female will be appearing in court at a later date.
