Powell River RCMP reported the following for January 28 to February 3, 2021.

February 2; Selkirk Avenue, 3900 block
At approximately 6:58 am, police were patrolling when a suspicious vehicle was observed in front of Westview Elementary School. Police stopped the vehicle and spoke to the 41-year-old male driver and 42-year-old female passenger. Records checks were completed on the driver, and it was determined he was prohibited from driving. The driver was arrested for prohibited driving and released to attend court at a later date. The passenger was then told she could leave the vehicle, and when she got up a small amount of what appeared to be crack cocaine was located under where she was sitting. She was then arrested for possession of a controlled substance, and during a search subject to her arrest, police located a significant amount of controlled substances as well as approximately $1,300 in Canadian currency. The female was also released to attend court at a later date for charges of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

February 1; Tweedsmuir Avenue, 3400 block
At approximately 7:13 am, police responded to a report of a stolen vehicle. Approximately five minutes before police were called, the owner of the vehicle witnessed it being driven away from their house and up Terrace Street. The stolen vehicle was a 2017 Honda Ridgeline. At approximately 2:10 pm on the same day, police located the stolen vehicle in the area of Toba Street and Cariboo Avenue. A forensic examination has been completed on the vehicle and this file is still under investigation. Everyone should secure their vehicles when parked and not leave valuables inside at any time.

January 29; Willow Avenue
At approximately 10:50 pm, police stopped a vehicle on Willow Avenue near Hawthorn Street. Police spoke to the driver, a 46-year-old male from Powell River, who showed signs of impairment. A record check was completed and it was determined he was prohibited from driving and had an outstanding warrant. Police arrested the driver for prohibited driving and advised him he was under investigation for impaired driving. The driver provided a breath sample, which was over the legal limit. He is now facing charges of prohibited driving and impaired driving. The vehicle was impounded for seven days under provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act.
