Local pilot Tye Leishman was in the skies over Powell River Airport again last weekend and shared the latest aerial views of the progress being made on runway paving work. The photos above were taken on Saturday, June 1.
Per a presentation by City of Powell River director of infrastructure Tor Birtig at a committee of the whole meeting last month, construction was on pace to end today (June 3) but there were no plans to open the runway until June 10.
Leishman has shared aerial photos of the airport on three previous occasions over the past two months, including on May 25, which the Peak published two days later.
