qathet Regional District’s (qRD) board will consider adopting a new proposed code of conduct.
At the July 5 committee of the whole meeting, directors voted on a recommendation that the regional board rescind its current code of conduct policy and adopt the new policy as presented.
City of Powell River director George Doubt said the regional district started with a code of conduct, but subsequent to writing and adopting the first one, had held workshops and received advice from Union of British Columbia Municipalities and other experts.
“We’ve given this the once-over with a fine-toothed comb,” said Doubt. “It’s a great document.
“It will be useless if we don’t pay attention to the document and treat each other and the residents of the area with respect. If we all do that, we probably won’t have to bring up the code of conduct. If we do, there are ways of dealing with any conflict and hopefully resolving matters in a positive way.”
