Investigation into the disappearance of Powell River resident Vaughn Baumgardt by Powell River RCMP is continuing and he has yet to be located.
According to a media release from constable Paula Perry, Powell River RCMP has learned that Baumgardt was possibly seen on the morning of August 21 between 9:30 and 11:30 am, walking westbound on Pine Tree Road, just east of Highway 101. Perry stated it is presumed that Baumgardt then crossed Highway 101 near Pine Tree Road and had an interaction with the driver of a vehicle who may have had to stop abruptly to avoid hitting him. Perry stated that Baumgardt was seen with no shirt on and wearing gym shorts.
“Powell River RCMP is asking the driver of the vehicle who may have interacted with Baumgardt to contact Powell River RCMP at 604.485.6255,” stated Perry. “If anyone has any information about Baumgardt’s whereabouts, they are asked to call the Powell River RCMP.”
