Lucarelli's five-point night leads Powell River Kings to big win

Hockey club shows offensive prowess with nine goals in BCHL game versus Cowichan Valley

Anthony Lucarelli scored in each period en route to a hat-trick and a lopsided win for his Powell River Kings over Cowichan Valley Capitals at Hap Parker Arena on Friday, March 17. The forward, who also set up two goals, reached the 20-goal plateau for the 2022/2023 BC Hockey League (BCHL) season with his third of the game, which came on a power play in the third period, giving the Kings an 8-3 lead at the time.

Casey Aman, Turner Richards, Cameron Symons, Parker Lalonde, Adam Mendelson and Jack Blanchett also scored for the Kings, who led 2-1 after the first period, 6-3 after 40 minutes of play and 9-5 at the final buzzer.

Lucarelli was named first star of the game ahead of Blanchett (second) and Karter McNarland (third), who assisted on three goals each. Symons, Noah Eyre, Anthony Yu and Lalonde had one helper each on the night.

Powell River outshot the visitors 47-38 and went two for two on power play opportunities while killing off the only man advantage for Cowichan. Attendance was 670.

The two teams meet again today (March 18, 5 pm) in the final regular season home game for the Kings, who complete their schedule with a trio of games on the road next weekend.
